Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 20-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman by threatening her in Jabalpur, police said on Monday.
Police also arrested her father for allegedly running an illegal money-lending business and seized a rifle, firearm, revolver, 46 live cartridges and four knives. Besides Rs 9.90 lakh, 3.340 kg of money, land documents and some agreement papers were seized from the house of the accused.
The woman filed a rape complaint on Sunday evening, after which police arrested the accused on Monday, said Additional Police Superintendent (ASP) Rohit Kashwani.
He said police raided the accused’s home on the grounds that his father was forcibly taking the property of those people who were unable to repay the loan he had been taken out.
Kashwani said the woman claimed to have been repeatedly raped. The complainant told police that the accused took her to her home in September 2019 and raped her. âLater, he used to visit her house frequently, finding her alone and rehearsing the act,â Keshwani said.
Details of the seized weapons were not mentioned in police records at Kotwali Police Station, although the accused claimed to hold licenses in his wife’s name to keep them, Keshwani said.
“We are checking the accused’s claim (possessing the license to own weapons) with the district collector,” Keshwani added.
